Outstanding 950 SILVER & Turquoise Cuff Bracelet - Gecko/Lizard or Iguana!

AGE: I am guessing but I would think 1980 or so. Discontinued design (see below).

ITEM: A fabulous cuff bracelet that was made in Mexico. Depicting a 3D lizard, gecko or iguana, the cuff bracelet itself is actually part of the tail of the lizard, wrapping around the wrist securely. It ends in a curl just below the lizard's head.

The cuff is hinged at the center for an easy on - easy off - no second person needed convenience. Silver is thick and hefty and the casting of the piece is wonderful. Turquoise eyes highlighted by lots of detailing to represent the scaling of the reptile.

CONDITION: Excellent with not a single flaw I can spot.

METAL CONTENT: 950 silver - BETTER than Sterling Silver

HALLMARKS: 950 as well as a hallmark that looks like TACHO'S or TACHOS or NACHOS. No other marks.

SIZE: From top of cuff to bottom measures 3-9/16". Width is 3-1/16". Inside width is 2-1/4"; inside height from underside to back is 1-7/8". The bangle fits my partner's size 7 wrist but is a bit tight so I think 6-3/4 is about right.

WEIGHT: 109 grams - about 3 ounces plus of silver

FINAL COMMENTS: Now THIS is funny - while on the Sapphire Princess December 2011, the ship docked in Ensenada. I went shopping downtown with my father and in the LOS CASTILLO shop on the main street, there sits the SAME bracelet. Well of course being curious I just HAD to ask the price. And... $1700 less 15% discount. Of course I didn't divulge I had one just like it. The salesperson did say that the artisan who created this treasure is very sought after and does great work. The Iguana line of jewelry is now discontinued. (He's on crabs now!) I saw some of his other pieces and I have to admit, I agree. So here's a chance to save major bucks and get a fabulous BOLD cuff that I am sure will please someone.

ADDENDUM: November, 2012. Well, I just got off of the Sapphire Princess once more, hit Ensenada once more, and went to Los Castillo once more. The same bracelet is STILL in the window of the shop however this time, the price is now $2,700 less 15% discount - this is mostly due to the rise in the price of silver. (Ouch!)
