19th Century French Enamel Hot Air Balloon Patch Box

The base is a bright lemon yellow. Good original patina on the mounts. Nice tight snap closing.

Condition Good. Measures approximately 2" x 1 ½" x 1". French, 19th Century.

This is a French enamel patch box. Very similar to the Battersea Enamel Boxes. However, I am very knowledgeable with regard to the English Enamels. The way to distinguish the French boxes, even if they have the same motif, is by the hinge. On the French boxes there is a lug on the hinge, I have pictured this. The English hinges go straight across.
