Extraordinary vintage 18K yellow gold ring of an Art Nouveau lady by J.E. Caldwell, Philadelphia, features fine modeling with airy open-work hair and a diamond eye. JE Caldwell is a very highly-respected American jeweler that established itself in 1839 and became best known for its Art Nouveau and Art Deco jewelry. This fine example presents a striking depiction of a classic Art Nouveau woman with cascades of hair that flow beautifully around the entire circumference of the deeply carved shank and a glittering little diamond eye. The inside of the shank is impressed "18K" with the Caldwell maker's mark and the circa 1960 ring is in excellent vintage condition, measures 1-inch top-to-bottom and 5/8-inches side-to-side at the face, a size 6 1/2 and weighs 11.9 grams. Please Note: This may be sized, but resizing will leave a smooth space that interrupts the "hair" at the back of the shank.
