1970's Malcolm Starr cocktail dress and jacket, the lavish, deep emerald green voided velvet with a striking 1960's interpretation of an Art Deco geometric pattern featuring crisp, precisely drawn lines and angles with a smattering of clustered bubbles to relieve the eye. Designed by Starr's in-house designer, Elinor Simmons, this distinctly expressive outfit includes a sleeveless dress with an un-patterned, buttery smooth velvet bodice lined in iridescent green, a 3-inch wide same-fabric belt and a cropped jacket with a matching green iridescent lining, notched lapels, green rhinestone encrusted buttons closing the front and matching buttons at the cuffs. There is an "Elinor Simmons For Malcolm Starr" label, a "Charles Sumner, Boston" retailer's label, a size "12" tag and the dress is in excellent uncleaned vintage condition, ready to wear with an extra hole punched in the belt to accommodate a smaller waist on the original owner, the jacket measuring 18-inches long with a 36 bust, 32 waist and 20-inch sleeve and the dress 41-inches long with a 36 bust and 29 waist.
