Edwardian Silk & Metallic Embroidered Ivory Silk Charmeuse Gown With Bullion Tassels

Gracious antique Edwardian ivory silk charmeuse gown with a rich combination of metallic and silk embroidery, silver bullion tassel drops and wonderfully decorative construction detail. The silk-chiffon-lined bodice is beautifully pleated and has French knot embroidery and elaborate smocking at the neckline front-and-back that extends down the sleeves to a fine chiffon ruffle. A wide, pleated waist sash with snap closures encircles the waist and the skirt has silk French knots trimming a narrowing band of smocking that extends well into the rear of the skirt, pannier-like floating panels with silk and metallic embroidery and a handkerchief-point overskirt with matching embroidery and the two silver bullion tassel drops. The bodice has protective underarm pads inside and the gown is in excellent uncleaned antique condition, very strong and wearable with an occasional very pale outline spot as can be seen in the close-up photos but which are barely visible when viewed in person, and a split to the bodice lining, but no holes or pinholes, measures an unexpanded 50-inches long with a 36 bust and 26 waist.
