Sparkling 1920's sleeveless evening dress with a silky lamé damask bodice, a beaded & sequined tulle and silk skirt over folding panniers and a gold lamé underskirt. The brocade pattern on the bodice features an exotic pattern in resonant jewel-tones shot with bright gold metallic threads on a black ground, and the neckline and armscyes are trimmed in black silk with black piping at the waist. A rhythmic combination of streaking sequins and whorls and clusters of beads and sequins on black tulle float above a glowing gold metallic underskirt, and there is a full-length, inky-black silk panel of tiny accordion pleats at the front of the skirt providing a visual void that emphasizes the flash of the sequins and beads and the lustrous gold lamé. There are panniers on each side of the skirt that can be folded out of the way, one of which has a small lingerie pin with a gold-tone token depicting a female bust and the date "1872", perhaps a memento from an earlier special occasion. The dress closes with side snaps and is in very good uncleaned vintage condition, strong and ready to wear with a tiny bit of loose trim and a small threadbare spot at the top of each shoulder, measures an unexpanded 44-inches long with a 36 bust, 33 waist and 55-inch sweep at the hemline.
