Rare Vintage Tortoise Lucite & Leather Hatbox Purse

Rare circa 1950 hatbox purse with a "tortoise shell" lucite frame and a leather bag and strap handle. The chunky lucite frame is a waxy, translucent amber streaked with russet, a very good tortoise simulation, and the leather strap and bag have a reptilian pattern that I believe is embossed on the leather. The bag pivots within the frame to reveal a zipper with a black zipper-pull and a removable change purse inside, the outside is tufted in wedges around a domed circle in the center on both sides and the black faille interior is quilted in a diamond pattern. In very good overall vintage condition with some light verdigris to the metal fittings, some missing quilting stitches inside and some minor edge roughness to the leather next to the zipper, measures 6 3/8-inches in diameter and approximately 12-inches from the top of the strap handle to the bottom of the purse.
