Outstanding Antique Battenberg Lace Cathedral Length Bridal Veil

Outstanding antique Battenberg lace cathedral-length bridal veil. This rare circa 1900 veil is painstakingly constructed from yards and yards of hand-made Battenberg tape lace in a grand and sweeping pattern of stylized flowers, fern-like columns of leaves and elegant scroll-work. The tightly-rendered tapes define the pattern and there are padded buttonhole-stitch rings providing textural interest and dimension and web-like structures of twisted threads that criss-cross or radiate from central knots adding an airy elegance to the expansive veil. The head is beautifully adorned and exquisitely romantic with layered flowers on top and framing the face on both sides. In excellent uncleaned antique condition, very strong and supple with one pale, nickle-sized spot (please see photos) and a few tiny breaks in the tulle, measures approximately 122-inches long, 78-inches wide at the widest point and 18-inches wide at the head.
