Frothy Two-Piece 1890 Lace & Ribbon Tea Dress

Frothy and feminine circa 1890 two-piece snow white cotton tea dress with ivory silk ribbon embellishments. Both pieces feature layered construction with a soft tulle outer dress and a fine organdy underdress. The pigeon-breasted bodice has a stand-up collar, a bertha and elbow sleeves with flounced cuffs, all trimmed with narrow ivory silk ribbon. There are abundant lace inserts, diagonal bands of pleated tulle and rear hook-and-eye closures. The flounced tulle skirt is encircled with four ivory silk ribbons and has a silk waistband with ribbon-bow and the organdy underskirt has a lace edging at the hemline. In excellent uncleaned antique condition, strong and ready to wear with slight age spotting at the hem of the skirt and a peppering of age spots to the organdy bodice lining, measures 59-inches long overall with a 34 bust, 24 waist and 14-inch sleeve measured from the shoulder.
