Victorian Battenberg Tape Lace Blouse

Hand-assembled Victorian Battenberg tape lace blouse with an elegant pattern of scroll-work including fronds with scrolled tips and stylized flowers. The large-scale pattern is very rhythmic and the tailoring smart and crisp with a cotton waistband, elegantly shaped sleeves and a stand-up collar. The Battenberg tapes were hand-joined with twisted-thread bars embellished with coiled rings and the blouse is in excellent uncleaned antique condition with a couple of broken bridges and a little age-related discoloration on the back of the collar, measures an unexpanded 19-inches long with a 40 bust and 32 waist.
