I have for your consideration a beautiful Limoges jardiniere bearing the R. Delinieres & C0. (D&Co) Factory underglaze mark 3 (circa 1894).
This gorgeous piece stands 6.5" tall, 7" across at the mouth, and measures 30" in circumference at its widest point. On a canvas of cream white, the artist has hand painted stunning white roses with deep golden yellow centers. The shading is outstanding, and the use of heavy embellished brush strokes to the edges of the petals lend such a sense of realism to the roses that one almost catches themselves bending over to see if they can smell their heady fragrance. Tucked in among these gorgeous and superbly executed rose specimens are sprigs of pink sweat peas with their dainty heart shapes also being embellished with touches of raised paint adding another level of texture of depth. The roses and sweat peas decorate all sides of the jardiniere. Bringing a splash of contrast are bits of thorny stemmed branches bearing green foliage. The rim is adorned with gold gilt that trims the mouth edge and forms an intricate band of scroll work that is outlined in raised gold gilt.
The jardiniere is in excellent condition. There is some darkening of the inside rim which probably occurred from placing a potted plant inside. There is also wear to the gold around the mouth rim and to the gold gilt scroll work; however, there is absolutely no loss whatsoever to the painted roses or other floral design. The colors are warm and cool. This was most definitely an artist who was a master at this particular genre. There are no chips, cracks, hairlines, flakes, flea bites or spiders.
As you can see from the pictures, it's display qualities are awesome. Tucked among your other gorgeous hand painted collectibles it will provide years or viewing pleasure.
