Fantastic Belleek Vase Vibrant Colors Gold Curled Handles with Red Roses

I have for your consideration a stunning Belleek vase bearing the Lenox Belleek Palette Mark 8 (circa 1906). I can find no signature on this gorgeous piece of art work, but I am sure you can agree that the coloring and execution of the roses displays talent commensurate with that of a master artist at their trade.

The vase stands 11.5" tall, 9" across, and nearly 28" in circumference at its widest. This is a lovely Belleek mold that is a highly sought after and is pictured in every reference book on Belleek china. See for example, page 88 of Collecting American Belleek by Loman and Petula Eng. This beauty has a background that is done in a marvelous grass green with a deeper shade of the hue found down around the bottom with hints of a light carmel . The finish is clear and crisp, almost glass like. Against this canvas, the artist has hand painted large clusters of red roses in varying stages of bloom. Some are fully opened with paler edges curling; while others are bent over with their petals turned upside down. No matter where you look there are blooms adorning this glorious vase. What is even more remarkable about the vase is the distinct and surreal looking green foliage cushioning these beautiful red roses. With their dark outlining, blending of green hues, and touches every now and then of warm browns and rich veining, they are the closest thing to real I have ever seen. Even the woody stems have such realistic looking thorns that one would almost hesitate to touch them for fear of being pricked. The slightly turned out and oval shaped rim of the vase is gently scalloped and trimmed in gold. Contributing an added sense of glamour and elegance are the familiar gold twisted ornate handles. Here, they have a crackled finish lending another level of old age quality to an amazing vase.

The vase is in excellent condition. There is no wear to the gold and no scuffs or scratches to this shining beauty. There are no flakes, flea bites or chips. There are no cracks, hairlines or spiders.

This would be a fine acquisition to add to any collection of hand painted rose items, whether it be Limoges, Belleek or Pickard.
