Pictured and offered for sale is one mid-19th century french sulphide that rests in a custom made wooden display stand (ca. 1930 stand). Finely detailed sulphide with exquisite detail as pictured. These are getting very scarce, although they have never really been plentiful, and were surely produced in very limited quantities for a luxury market. Condition is fair to good, as the few of these that I have sold over the decades have shown some edge chipping. This has some chips to the rope-cut edge at about 8 o'clock, and a larger chip the the rear, bottom center, both shown. This 6 o'clock chip is not seen from the front or when in the stand, and none of the damage interferes with the display of this exquisite object. Measures 4.5" tall, including the bronze loop/hanger. This is much prettier than the pictures and a real little gem. These are produced by Baccarat ca. 1850, although this is not signed.
