Faded grandeur late 19th C. French, miniature sedan chair display vitrine / porte montre with darling cherub motifs, ideal for period display. A delicious confection made from cardboard and wood covered in velvet, moulded lithographed metal panels and bevelled glass in the door and both windows. It has a hook for displaying a fob watch but could be used for jewelry. The sedan chair has the most enchanting scenes of frolicking cherubs, swags and bows and is adorned with the sweetest little porcelain handle with rose motifs. It has has taken a wonderful faded grandeur air, the velvet has faded and worn with light damage to the roof and front panel below the door.A small band of metallic passementerie is missing inside the piece but this could easily be replaced. The left hand window panel has a chip and is a little loose . The door window panel is a little loose, however the glass is all original. The decorative metal panels are in good condition with only a few tiny chips. The door opens and closes correctly .Despite it's imperfections this darling faded grandeur vitrine is utterly charming and would make a splendid addition to a period boudoir.
