Superb large antique French reliquary sacred hearts Monmartre Paris
Splendid large antique French, oval medallion reliquary with 2 sacred hearts, souvenir from the Sacred Coeur, Monmartre , Paris. A wonderful hand made confection consisting of 2 padded silk flaming hearts . The gold one has a metallic gold crown of thorns and the cream one has been pierced with a sword and is embellished with roses. The hearts are surmounted by a gold metallic fabric cross and banner which reads : souvenir du S C Monmartre and surrounded by metallic gold floral and foliage motifs on a black background. The confection has been mounted in a metal frame , protected by convex glass and has a ring for hanging. The reliquary is in a very fresh condition, save for some rust on the backing panel and a few marks on the glass. The convex glass has no cracks. A splendid piece for your delectation !
