The tiny village S.E. of Paris called Limoges France has been famous for their outstanding porcelain objects of art. From gorgeous dish sets to the ever popular tiny little trinket boxes. This very charming piece is a small porcelain basket edged with a burnished twisted metal rim and handle with a bow on the top. The item is hand painted with little bunches of posy flowers. Each side has a colorful design. The very bottom inside area also is adorned with painted flowers. A small glass bottle has been designed to fit inside of the basket. It has a wonderful brass twist top. This particular piece was made in the 1960's- I know this because of who it belonged to. It is an exquisite item that is in excellent condition. Good color- not a crack or chip. On the bottom you will see the house of limoges that it was made by -La Gloriette- a fine maker of Limoges articles. There are many different small factories in Limoges -many brand names. This is one of the finest. The bottle is 5/8"- 1 1/4" and the basket measures 1 1/4"- 2 1/4". A wonderful and elegant gift idea and a great piece for any collection.
