19th Century Gaudy Welsh Jug. Oyster Pattern.

Cheerful earthenware Gaudy Welsh jug or creamer imported from England. This folksy, unpretentious pottery was originally made in England and Wales between 1820 and 1860 for working class families and was not made to be perfect. It was thick and coarse, full of pitting and woefully out of shape.

Today it is highly collectible and this charming, rustic jug is a fine example. It displays hand painted decoration in cobalt blue, burnt orange & copper luster with touches of green on an off white background.

There is no major damage or repairs. It has all the characteristic flaws you would expect to find which are shown in the pictures and only add to it's whimsical charm.

Dimensions: height 4", width from handle to spout 5 1/2".
