Antique English Carved Oak Jacobean Style Wardrobe Armoire.

Beautiful carved oak wardrobe in the Jacobean style, imported from England and dating back to C.1900.

Constructed from oak with a worn dark stain and beautiful golden oak patina showing through.

There are double paneled doors to the front which feature hand carved flowers, shells and scrolls with beading in geometrical shapes. It is topped with a grand gadrooned cornice with more hand carving and below there is one large drawer with the same geometric beading.

The doors open to reveal a large storage closet with brass hanging rail and hooks. There is also a mirror on the inside of one door which looks to be a later addition.

The whole thing is mounted on original casters. The original brass drop handles have an attractive rope design and there is a lock but no key.

There is some minor wear throughout the piece but nothing worthy of any concern. In the pictures the left side looks streaky and faded, however this is just the patina in the wood grain and both sides are in great shape. There is some splitting and separation in the panels of the doors and back due to climate change causing movement in the wood. There is also a very small area of old minor damage to the top side of the cornice. I have tried to show all of this in the pictures and as you can see it does not take away from it's character and charm or effect it's function and stability in any way.

As is the case with most British wardrobes, it comes apart into 3 pieces making it easier for shipping and placement in your home.

This is a wonderful, impressive piece of furniture which could be used as a closet or would be a great candidate for conversion into a media cabinet. It is in solid, sturdy condition with age appropriate flaws.
