Madison Mitchell Black Duck Decoy

This is a black duck decoy in original paint made by Madison Mitchell of Havre De Grace, Maryland. Mitchell was considered the dean of modern Upper Chesapeake Bay carvers. He lived from 1901 to 1992.

Black duck decoys by this carver were not common. This decoy is probably from his latter years of carving. It is in excellent condition.

The black duck measures about 17½" long X 7½" wide X 6" ½" tall.
