19th Century Thomas Mayer "Canova" Bowl and Pitcher

This is a beautiful blue and white bowl and pitcher by 19th Century potter Thomas Mayer of Longport, England. It is the "Canova" pattern. It dates from about the 1830's.

The scene is of a castle with a river, a boat with people, a large urn, trees and flora. There are cartouches around the border with an urn and a boat and of flora. The outside of the bowl also has cartouches of an urn and a boat and of flora.

The pitcher is in good condition, but the bowl has been repaired and has other chips and cracks. These pieces got a lot of use.

The pitcher is about 10 ¼" tall at the handle and 10" tall at the highest part of the spout. It is 9" across from the handle to the end of the spout.

The bowl is about 12 ½" in diameter and 4 ½" tall. The bottom is 6 1/16" in diameter.

I have many more pictures if you would like to see them showing the damage on the bowl.
