Chimayo Aqua and Cobalt Sacred Heart Earrings
Just as you're coming into town, though, at a crossroads--there's a less famous but wonderful site-- brightly colored graffiti that looks as if it has gradually evolved into a full-blown mural. That funky wall is the inspiration for this series.
On the wall are amazing painted graffiti of churches, trees, park benches, the Virgin of Guadalupe (see the last photo)-- in pink, turquoise, green, orange, and lavender, and then--
off in a corner is. . . .what IS that? An alien?--It's the "grey" from Roswell's area 51 floating behind the churches and saints. That's New Mexico.
I think of this series, though, as encapsulating the spirit of Santa Fe when it was more like Mexico or Spain than the United States. It still has much of that flavor, which makes it very special place to live with bright colors everywhere on doors, gates, and in churches.
The sacred hearts in these earrings are made of copper that has been permanently patinaed in the colors you see here.
If you are looking for a one-of-a-kind artistic pair of earrings, made with love and care, I think you'd enjoy the cheerfulness and spirit of these. They hang about 1" long from the top of the sterling silver earwires.
Thanks for listening and looking. Come back soon!
