Prier Dieu French chair woven seat fruitwood

Offered is an antique French prier dieu used for prayers. It is either a fruit wood or chestnut. From its weight I would lean towards chestnut. The woven seat is a stunning jacquard pattern and in very good condition. There is a lovely brass plate on the top with the name of the owner Antoinette Etienne. I don't see any repairs. One separation in the wood on the top rail aligns with the grain but it is only on the surface and there was some insect damage in one spot.

It is constructed with dowels. The back slats have an undulating attractive curve; the seat lifts easily. Measurements are approximately 32" high, 19 1/2" at the widest point, and 18" front to back.
