Victorian porcelain hand painted portrait gold fill brooch
Offered is an early Victorian brooch with an exquisitely detailed portrait of a young woman. She is wearing a high necked lace dress in a deep blue, a heavy gold chain and a hat with a large feather probably ostrich. Her face is warm flesh tones and she has dark eyes. The pin closure is a hasp and functions very well. The length of the brooch is 2" and it is 1 1/2" high. The setting is very fine with with an ivy leaf at each end and delineating curves and square lines. Notice the fine finial balls on the end and ate each side.
The condition is good for its age although I want to note there is wear to the gold fill and a few light scratches on the portrait when viewed with a 10x loupe.
