Folk art country store pastel painting
Offered is a quaint painting of the Stockwell 1883 country store. This bygone era of rural store is represented with the red board, wood sidewalk, white ice cooler, notices posted on the window and a Pepsi machine. The windows are outlined in a golden yellow and are the old style push up. Next door you glimpse a white house dwarfed by the store. Probably there are offices or apartments above. The artist place great emphasis on detail with the street board, cafe sign, telephone pole and postal box. The building is accented by the green of tall old trees behind.
The painting was framed and properly sealed so I did not remove it for photographs. Consequently, there is some glare from the glass. It is signed Bonnie Elkins. She is not listed in Davenport or on askart. The frame is not old and a somewhat muted gold design, in good condition and serviceable.
Measurements with the frame are approximately 33" by 27".
