Rare Large Blanc de Chine Dehua HeHe Erxian Group. - Early Republic Period
I believe this one was made in the early republic period - early 20th Century and could well be from the 19th Century (late 1800's).
One twin is standing and holding a plantain leaf. The other twin is seated and holding a box that reveals a bat. The base is nicely detailed with lotus flowers and vines. The plantain leaf has a clean break and was reattached - please see last picture. Other than this, this figural group is in perfect condition. If you require additional pictures please email me.
I have put a very reasonable price on this item and if you search the internet for China's republic HeHe figural group (1912 - 1949) you will be amazed at the prices achieved at auction even with damages.
The statue stands about 13 inches tall and about 9 inches long and about 5 inches wide at its widest point. The detail of this statue is superb.
This item is heavy potted and therefore is very very heavy which will increase the shipping cost. The glaze has little black spots here and there which sometime is seen in pieces of blanc de chine made in the early 20th century or before. Please see a picture of the banana leaf showing the break and reattachment and also the black speck in the porcelain itself.
Christies auction house sold one for $57,000 and says it was made between 1912-1949. You can search their site for HeHe figural group or you can email me for the link.
Ernest Johnson Antiques sold an exact statue of the one I am selling and I have emailed them for the price. I was told that they do not list their selling prices. You can go to their website and scroll down and you will see this item.
The wood base is not perfect, and if you want the wood base, I will ship it to you. Please see picture #4.
Any questions please email me.
