EAPG Ceres (Goddess of Liberty) Figural Covered Sugar Bowl C 1870's

This figural milk glass covered dish is a sugar bowl and was made by Atterbury Glass in the 1870's. The covered figural items are very scarce. Made in clear, colored and milk glass. Figural milk glass pieces are rare.

This pattern is known by several names, Cameo, Goddess of Liberty, Ceres, Profile and Sprig. Atterbury called it Medallion.

If you are a collector of figural milk glass, this is the one for you. This covered sugar bowl is about 7 l/2 inches tall with the cover.

The base has three panels each with a face of a lady in a Cameo setting. The top also has three faces in cameo and the finial is a figural warrior's head. Very unusual. Atterbury did not register this pattern so we dont know who the lady represents or who the warrior is.

No chips, cracks or repairs.
