Pickle Castor Frame - Reed & Barton - Unusual Horse Handles

This is an unusual pickle castor frame made by Reed & Barton. It is signed m-'fd and plated by Reed & Barton.

The insert shown is not included in the price shown. I only show the insert so you can see how it will look with a castor insert.

The frame is about 5 inches tall to the horse.

The silverplate holder is decorated with various victorian scenes and the legs have a figural head at each feet. There are animals, cupid riding a carriage, etc.

The most interesting thing about this silverplate castor holder is the horse tail that wraps around the handles. I have provided a close up picture.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------- A note on the insert shown with this castor: This insert is the horn of plenty EAPG pattern. However, this is not the original. This copy of the EAPG pattern was the first reproduction made of any EAPG. It was made in the 1930's in Czechoslovakia for an antique dealer so the story goes. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
