Victorian Ca 1880 Corset Lady's Silk Boned Ruffled Exquisite!

The corset is for formal wear and is made of a beautiful black silk. The bodice of the corset is trimmed in delicate black lace. There is a lush silk ribbon ruffle which sits just above the hips. The corset narrows to a "V" shape in the front and the back.

This particular lady's corset is in mint condition. There are absolutely no holes, rips or tears anywhere in the silk or the lace, and the silk ribbon trim is perfect also with no ribbons missing. There are no stains and no odors.

The corset is lined in a cream colored cotton, and there are 10 bones for structure. I cannot tell if the bones are whale bone or bamboo. Each bone is completely covered in hand stitched cotton so I cannot test any of them. None of the bones are broken.

The measurements taken laid flat for the corset are: Bust 16 1/2 inches, Waist 11 1/4 inches, and the length of the corset from the top of the shoulder strap to the end of the "V" bottom in the front is 21 inches long. The corset shows a gap in the back of 3/4 inch. The lacing can, of course, be let out to increase the size of the waist.

The back of the corset shows 30 eyelet holes which have been laced with the original black silk cord. There is a black silk braided trim resting just above the silk ribbons.
