Ugo Correani Italy Necklace Wood and Lucite Huge Drop Balls
Ugo Correani designed for some of fashions biggest couturiers including Valentino and Fendi. In the 1970s, he designed for Versace. I believe this necklace dates to the 1970s during the Versace design period.
This fabulous necklace is constructed with round wooden beads which are inlaid with cream colored round lucite discs. The necklace has a dramatic and large gold tone metal drop which is embellished with three lucite half balls, also cream colored. The wooden beads are graduated in size and are spaced with gold tone metal loop accents.
The signature clasp is signed: " U. Correani Made in Italy". Although the necklace is ultra chic and dramatic, it is also light hearted and amusing. The beads turn on the neck showing an ever changing combination of wood and lucite as you can see in some of the photos I have taken for you.
The gold tone drop measures 3 1/2 inches wide by 2 1/2 inches tall, and the necklace measures 18 inches long. The condition of the piece is vintage excellent. There are no chips or breaks and no stains. The different shadows you see on the large drop are only camera reflections. The gold tone metal is in excellent condition also. The clasp is in perfect working order, and the necklace is still strung with the original thick cream colored string.
