Turn of the Century brooch artistically designed in the form of a large buckle. Beautifully formed and detailed butterfly highlights one corner with it's wings having raised relief it flies toward a lily or iris type flower with the same raising on it's petals. There is great detailing in the body, wings and head of the butterfly also in the flower. The buckle has open-work design and also four rectangular panels which contain engraved flowers in the same style as the raised relief one. The buckle pin measures 2 7/8" across and 2" high. It is stamped, "Sheffield Silver" on the back. I believe it is silver plated. It has a simple C pin closure on the back. Circa 1900. The pin is in great, slightly polished condition. This is an outstanding old brooch! Thank you for looking.
