Pretty pair of plaques, likely souvenirs for export during the Korean War. They still have a paper label on them identifying Korea as their country of origin.
Traditional Asian theme of birds, blossoms and bamboo, with lovely execution. Appears to be abalone (possibly mother of pearl in areas) with brass inlay. One plaque depicts birds sitting on a blossom branch, the other birds flying around bamboo. The brass has taken on a very dark patina, which I have not polished. I cannot attest to the condition of the brass should one chose to polish them. I think they're great the way they are.
They each measure 17-3/4" by 6" by 1/4" thick (they are not heavy plaques). They are in lovely vintage condition with minor wear as would be expected. No major flaws.
Very pretty vintage decorative pieces.
