Antique English- Birmingham 1871- Embossed Sterling Silver Match Safe

This lovely sterling silver match safe has hallmarks that indicate it was made in Birmingham, England in 1871. Beautifully crafted and in very good vintage condition, it measures 1 7/8 inches by 1 3/8 inches.

The flip lid closes securely and at the bottom of the safe is a rasp for lighting the matches. The ornate and detailed swirled design, that is embossed with engraved highlights on both sides, has a floral feeling to it. The safe weighs 16.2 grams.

There is a dent on one corner and a few minor indentations but it is in wonderful condition considering the age. A ring is attached that can be attached to a chain. This is a fabulous piece for the true collector and we are pleased to offer it for your consideration.
