This vintage fur jacket is made of the softest fur I have ever encountered. It is incredible. After a lot of research, I believe that it is Russian Blue Squirrel. The color is a silvery brown with a darker undercoat. The fibers are somewhat longer than rabbit and finer than mink.
The jacket is styled with a large collar, slight A-line body, sleeves slightly flared, and two, invisible slit, front pockets and one interior pocket. It has a two button closure with a generous 3" overlap.
Measurements: This is a medium to large jacket. As is usual with fur coats, there is no size label. Bust: approx 42", sleeve length: approx. 23" (when the very deep cuffs are rolled up the sleeves are ¾ length), back length from nape of neck: 22", collar width: 6", total bottom width: 52", circumference of cuff is 18". Canadian made, bearing a label stating: York Furs, Toronto.
Condition: The condition is amazing. For such a soft fur there is almost no wear to the pelts. They are supple, lustrous and clean. No odors. There is some wear to the lining at the neck edge (see photo). Otherwise, I can find no wear. Please view all photos as they give an accurate description of the condition of this gorgeous jacket.
