Sardine Box. Victorian. Silverplated. Frosted Glass Liner Dish. Mint Condition.

This silverplated sardine box belongs to an era when houses had maids and cooks and every food had a special dish or utensil that belonged only to it. Today you may use this wonderful covered dish for anything you wish.

The frosted glass liner sits in a silverplated, decorative frame and is covered with a silverplated matching lid which has a removable fish on top of it.

The total width of the frame is 4 ½" by 5 ½" and it sits 2 ½" excluding the fish finial which adds another inch.

Condition: Remarkable condition! Two miniscule fleabites to the top edge of the glass dish and some darkening to the exterior corners from the metal frame which can probably be removed with cleaning. The lid has an area which is darkened with probable silver patina and may possibly be polished away. It may also be worn. I am unsure. Please view all photos as they give an accurate description of this very collectible box.
