Christliches Vergissmeinnicht (Christian Forget-me-not). Wonderful chromolithographs!! 1897!

This is an annual diary of prayers or a devotional date book. The twelve months are included and each month is headed by a beautiful chromolithograph with gilt lettering in Gothic script. These are all florals and some have pastoral scenes, as well. Each page has two days with a scripture verse and brief prayer and each page of text is faced by a decorated blank page for notes, etc. All is in German and in Gothic script. Very beautiful.

Published by Northwestern Publishing House, Milwaukee, Wis. No date, but I have seen a few other copies of this little book with variations and all were published between 1891 and 1901. I would date this to approx. 1897. Original black, cloth-covered slip-case included.

Condition: Slipcase: all edges worn but still intact and sturdy. Annual: Near Fine! All gilt is still bright and unworn. Interior clean, bright and tight, with no markings or writings on the blank pages. Page 65-66 has small chip out of top edge and some crumpling to bottom corner. Ribbon marker is worn. All-in-all, it is in gift-giving condition and would be a delight to own.
