Collecting Antique Jewellery by Mona Curran. Published by Emerson Books, NY, 2nd printing 1970. Hardcover with stone colored linen binding with red lettering on the spine. 153 pages.
This is an excellent book to learn about the Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian backgrounds to contemporary jewellery. The author gives a survey of the techniques, styles and designs of the periods, extending from 1714 to 1910. The emphasis is on the small collector and the attainable rather than on rare pieces. Where opulent jewels are described it is done for the purpose of rounding off the picture of period jewellery design and fashion.
