If you love vintage retro, this is the jacket for you! Oleg Cassini (1913 – 2006) was a French-born, American fashion designer. He dressed numerous stars and created some of the most memorable moments in international fashion and film. He is most famous for dressing Jackie Kennedy and he was responsible for the "Jackie look." A minimalist designer, he felt that "Simplicity is perfection", and that "Clothing is an envelope for the body." His boxy, short jackets, pillbox hats and sleeveless Empire evening gowns are now iconic.
This jacket exemplifies the 1960's -1970's "look." The body of the jacket descends from a collarless neckline and it is gathered at center back and in the collarbone areas at the front. In keeping with his simplistic mode, the jacket has one button closure at the top and three, hidden, large snaps. The outstanding design feature is the sleeves. They are long and have a button banded, bell cuff.
The jacket bears the Oleg Cassini label which states that it is a Small size. There is also a fabric content label stating that the shell is 20% wool, 45% polyester and 35% nylon. The lining is 100% polyester.
Measurements: Bust 39" (measured flat, jacket closed, and on the outside at the underarms.). The bottom edge is 44" in circumference. Sleeve is 23 ½". Shoulder width is 13 ½". Nape to bottom of jacket is 20". The jacket is labeled size Small. It is shown on a mannequin with a bust of 35 ½".
Condition: Mint! Flawless, odorless and spotlessly clean. I have included a photo of the interior underarms to show how clean and how little wear this jacket has had. This garment has been very well cared for in the years from the 70's to today.
