An absolutely exceptional piece by Los Castillo, this Aztec inspired sterling silver collar channels the jewels of the ancient Egyptians with its repeating triangular design.
The front section of the necklace is made up of pairs of triangles. One large and inlaid with a mix of dark green almost black stone and some turquoise pointing upward attached to a small all silver triangle pointing downward. Each of the larger triangles is accented with a beaded edge.
The back section of the necklace is made up of tubular beads with polka dots inlaid with dark green stone, lighter green jade-like stone, and turquoise.
A tube clasp secures the collar.
It measures 15-1/2" in wearable length. At the widest, it is 1-1/4". All of the elements are strung on strong woven chain. A jeweler could add extra beads to the back for additional length.
The back of one panel is fully hallmarked - Mosaico Azteca, denoting the construction technique, around the eagle assay mark, Los Castillo Taxco in a circle, Sterling Made in Mexico, and 126 which is the design number.
Condition: typical crackling to the stone inlay, some of the dots are more crudely crafted (I can only assume that small circles are significantly more difficult to create than angular slabs), there appear to be 3 dots that are missing much of their stone.
Note: For International shipping, I can only insure the necklace for $900.
