This bronze Julio Kilenyi paperweight was commissioned to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Fruit of the Loom cloth and textile company.
The front of the medal carries a raised image of the 1951 brand logo.
On the back is an avenue of trees receding into the distance. A plaque across the path reads – To those who have shared in building our priceless heritage, consumer confidence and goodwill. 1851-1951. The J. Kilenyi signature appears at the lower left of the plaque.
Interestingly, Fruit of the Loom was born in 1851 and registered as an official trademark in 1871, making it one of the world's oldest brands - predating the invention of light bulbs, cars and telephones.
The medal measures almost 3" in diameter.
Condition: it has not been polished and shows typical tarnish, hint of verdigris on one spot, there are some dings along the edge (see photo).
