A beautifully bold and absolutely Mod art glass dish, this Italian Murano sommerso block features submerged amethyst in amber within clear.
The design is classic and likely a Flavio Poli design executed by Seguso in the 1960s to 1970.
The block dish was probably intended as an ashtray but lacks the characteristic cigarette indentations. It measures 1-1/2" high x 5" wide x 3" deep. Although unsigned, it carries a gold foil label that reads Cristallo Intagliato a Mano, V.A.M. (Vetreria Artistica Murano) Murano, Hand Cut Crystall.
Near excellent but not mint condition. Minor scratches on the underside, tiny nick on the edge, I can feel a tiny tiny nick along the mouth but I can't really see it (and I have good eyes). The white spots in my photos are bubbles trapped inside the glass.
