Antique Sterling & Enamel Rogue's Gambling Pencil
The back of the cap is hand engraved with an ornate monogram GP.
When capped, the pencil measures 3-1/4" x just under 1/2" at the widest.
The wide wood pencil was made by Johann Faber, Made in Bavaria. I have not sharpened it.
There are 2 faint country hallmarks, likely German. The maker's mark G.A.S. is also present. The item has been tested and it is sterling silver.
Condition: this is a pocket pencil and shows typical surface scratching from life in a pair of trousers, the enamel shows minor surface scratches but no chips or real damage, the pencil fits into the cap tightly and will not come loose mistakenly, some dents in the end and a small hole, some dents in the end that holds the pencil (the dents are from the squeezing the silver to hold the pencil).
