This antique sterling souvenir spoon from Spokane, Washington features a rather hard to find full figure female on the handle. She is reaching up and picking apples from a tree. She is beautifully detailed – booted feet on the tree roots, full length skirt blown by the wind, hair in a simple bun. The back is equally detailed – her bun peeks out from a branch, the stems that hold the apples, the gnarled bark.
The spoon measures 5-5/8" x 1-1/4" across the bowl. The back carries the maker's mark for Joseph Mayer & Bros. and sterling.
The weight of the utensil is quite nice at 22.7 grams. It feels sturdy instead of thin or tinny.
Condition: typical minor wear.
