This antique miniature painting is a romantic pastoral scene set at the foot of a ruined column. A man and woman appear to be hidden away from the world while courting but peeking out from behind the ruins is a voyeur.
On the back of the frame is a typed note with some misspellings and corrections. It reads – Pastorale d'apres Francois Boucher by Gircard (with a spelling correction – Giecard) circa 1792 (?) frame restaured.

It reads - #65 Pastorale – following a painting by Monsieur (Gerard is crossed out and replaced with Giecard) probably around 1792. The genuine part of the frame is the brass copper inner liner. – d'apres Boucher, is signed on back.
Measurements: the painting with inner liner measures 2-1/4" x 2-3/4". The whole item is 3-1/8" x 3-5/8".
Signature: signed front lower right
Condition: a bit of warping, some wear to the outer frame.
