This is a 1947 Swiss Red Cross badge by sculptor Hans Frei. The pin depicts a slim male nude in full body profile reaching upwards presumably in gratitude for the beneficence of the Red Cross during a time of disaster. In the background are 2 faint volcanoes. Across the top are the numbers and dates 1. VIII, 1947.
The left corner carries the Hans Frei signature. The back is marked Huguenin Locle - specialized in manufacturing of medals.
The badge measures approx 1-1/8" x 7/8". It is made of a single piece of cast metal – likely bronze – with a copper plated front.
Condition: some rubbing to the plating on the high spots.
