This wonderful antique sterling silver spectacles or pince-nez case has a heavily etched and engraved hump-back lid and a simple plain back. The center of the lid is monogrammed.
The case is not lined which is less than ideal for a pair specs but perfect for other treasures.
It measures almost 4-1/4” long x 1-7/8 deep (not measuring the clasp). It is highest/thickest at the center where it measures about 5/8”.
There is a maker's mark and the silver content mark inside along the edge.
Condition: the case opens and closes properly, snaps shut and holds well, some spots of stubborn tarnish, minor shallow places where the silver was stressed – these would have become dents if the silver had been pushed harder.
