This is a lovely pair of English Georgian sterling silver sugar tongs with classic bright cut hand engraving down the sides and across the top. The ends have an undulating ridged pattern.
The only hallmarks are the lion passant (the English silver standard mark) and the maker’s mark GS – likely George Smith (1772-1791).
Excellent condition. Upon close inspection, it appears a monogram was removed from the top bend. The metal has not been compromised and has not been thinned by the removal.
