This impressive antique sterling silver stuffing spoon is in the classic Fiddle pattern. It carries an intricate hand engraved monogram on the top of the handle – AJW.
The back is hallmarked with the letters GA in conjoined circles – the maker's mark for George William Adams of Chawner & Company, Hosier Lane workshops; a most important mid 19th century firm of spoon makers. It is also marked with the date letter for 1877 and the Lion's head for London.
The spoon measures 12" long and almost 2-1/4" across the bowl. It weighs a substantial 159.6 grams.
Some scratching and utensil marks in the bowl – see last photo for the most distinct scratches . There are no dents, dings, or discolorations just shadows and reflections in my photos.
