German Folk Art Religious Carving Saint Joseph about 1800

This carving is coming from Germany and dated about 1800. It is a very good example of Folk Art carving.

The statue depicts Saint Joseph. He is holding in the left hand the Lily blossom and in the right the angular measure.

The condition is very good, the wood has an larger age crack to the front and some fine cracks to the sides of the carving. I am not sure if the statue had a polychrome painting (now removed), there are some traces to the hair which could possibly be a sign of painting.

The carving was waxed when I bought it, I refreshed the waxing.

Saint Joseph has a height of 22.4 inches.
