One-of-a-Kind! French Picture Brooch ca. 1860
This amazing brooch is coming from a French estate. It is made during the reign of Napoleon III.
It is a wonderful work of a great silversmith!
In the middle a very fine hand painted miniature on ivory depicting a mythological scenery. Two pretty women and the satyr – the eternal seducer! The painting is in very good condition, the colors are vibrant and good preserved by the original concave glass slice.
The oval medallion is surrounded by a fine guilloche metal frame and 34 superb seeded pearls.
Around the medallion an intricate arabesques, flower and ribbons adorned by sparkly rhinestones and enameled. Lovely pearl drop to the bottom. On the back side a compartment for a hair curl or a picture. The glass is present, seems not to be original and has some very tiny chips to the edge.
The condition is fine. There are some small damages to the enamel, see please the pictures (highly enlarged!). Repair to the back side frame (not visible when worn).
