Swallow Falls Scenic Original Oil
This is a wonderful original 19th century oil of one of the most picturesque and frequently painted scenes. Swallow Falls is in Wales and the subject of many artists. On the back of the canvas is the name "Swallow Falls" and likely the artist. We couldn't make it out exactly and it looks like Wainwright or similar. Has the date 1874 and it appears to be from that time period.
Fabulous gold leaf frame shows its age but is solid. It has one small chip missing as shown in the photo. The painting is also under glass, which is not common with modern framing of oil paintings.
The painting is 8 by 12 inches and 15 3/4 by 20 inches overall.
